Traditional Garlic Sauce (Thoumeya)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 or 3 garlic cloves, chopped (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (or half a cup of yogurt as an alternative)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation Method:
- In a pot, dissolve the cornstarch with the water while it’s cold.
- Place the pot on the stove and stir well until the mixture boils and thickens. Let it cool for an hour.
- In a blender or food processor, add the chopped garlic, milk, and mayonnaise (or yogurt), and blend them well.
- Then, add the cornstarch mixture, salt, oil, vinegar, and lemon juice. Blend well until the garlic sauce becomes smooth and thick.
- Refrigerate until ready to use.
