Brioche with Pastry Cream and Apples
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 1 egg white
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 cup warm water
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup oil
- A pinch of salt
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- Flour (as needed)
Preparation:
Mix all the ingredients well, then gradually add the flour until you get a soft dough. Cover and let it rise until it doubles in size.
For the Pastry Cream:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons pastry cream powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Mix all the ingredients well, then cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until it boils. Cover and set aside to cool.
Shaping the Brioche:
Once the dough has risen, shape it into small balls. Press slightly in the center of each ball, leaving the edges raised. Brush with an egg yolk and milk mixture, then fill the center with pastry cream.
Slice the apple into thin pieces and arrange them on top of the cream. Let the dough rise again, then bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.
Once out of the oven, brush with jam or honey, then sprinkle with crushed peanuts or shredded coconut, depending on your preference.
